Volkswagen AG has taken its next-gen T7 Transporter van out for a series of driving tests.
What is depicted here is a test mule, i.e. a new car put in the old T6 body. Nonetheless, a few changes – such as the distinctly longer hood – are already obvious. Overall, we’d expect the T7 to inherit its design from the ID Buzz Cargo Concept.
It is official that the upcoming generation of the van makes a switch to the new modular platform (MQB). Knowing Volkswagen, it is possible that the T7 will be on sale alongside the current (6.1) version of the van for a while until the latter goes out of production.
Caddy and Sharan, other members of the VW Transporter family, will also be updated alongside the main model. No premiere date estimations have been given so far, though.
