Nature-friendly Volkswagen T6.1 specs & pricing revealed

ABT e-Line and Volkswagen have joined efforts on releasing a fully electric version of the Transporter T6.1, and here are the details.

In its most affordable spec, the e-Transporter will ship starting from €44,990, which represents a healthy €17,632 premium over the standard version with a short wheelbase and diesel engine.

The electric van comes strictly front-driven, sports a long wheelbase, and packs a single electric motor rated at 113 hp (84 kW) along with 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque. Its 37.3-kWh battery gives it between 105 and 138 kilometers (65 and 85 miles) of range, which should be just enough for daily driving in the city limits. The main rival – the Mercedes e-Sprinter – is slightly more versatile in this regard, offering between 115 and 168 km (71 – 105 miles) of range depending on the circumstances.

It is also worth noting that the electric T6.1 has roughly the same cargo capacity as its diesel counterpart. The numbers range from 977 to 1,096 kilograms (2,154 – 2,416 lbs).

Aside from the ABT e-Transporter T6.1, you can also ask the tuner for a Combi (from €49,600) or an e-Caravelle (from €56,500). Their diesel-chugging siblings retail for €35,000 and €41,000, respectively.
