Remember the Songsan SS Dolphin, a made-in-China sports car we worote about a few days ago that tried to pass for the C1 Chevrolet Corvette? Evidently, it is not the only clone Songsan Motors has in its army: meet Summer, a minivan posing as the iconic VW T1 Bulli (see video).
The car makes no attempt to conceal its roots: the body outlines correspond to those of the original Transporter except only for the protruding hood, the headlights are round and the front clip is typical T1 fare. The interior evokes the same ‘retro’ theme with its cream-tinted leather upholstery. The side doors are sliding, while the tailgate swings open.
The engine bay houses a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine linked with an electric motor, a 7-G DCT and a 16-kWh battery. Manufacturer-rated output amounts to 315 hp (235 kW) and 535 Nm (395 lb-ft).
