The Munich show has attracted plenty of new cars and concepts, but the classics have not been forgotten, either. This Volkswagen T2 AmbienC3 Concept by Continental offers a new spin on a familiar cabin.
The design study demonstrates the assorted trim and finish materials that may become popular in the future. We do not know if its creators thought of interior ambience or sleeping drug Ambien when they came up with that name, but the cabin does look like a nice place to have a nap in.
The materials used by Continental are all synthetic and recycled, and have various valuable properties that set them aside from the current offerings. Specifically, some of them can produce modest amounts of heat, while others are extremely wear-resistant and can regenerate over time. The ‘laif’ artificial leather lets air pass through freely, is soft to the touch, and adjusts its temperature for comfort.
The concept will remain on display at the IAA Mobility 2021 until September 12.
