VW Transporter T7 shows up without camo

Volkswagen has posted some camouflage-free images of its seventh-gen Transformer lineup, previewing the Caravelle and Panamericana variants. Both run on Ford Transit Custom underpinnings and are set to ship in late 2024, although preorders from €43,800 are already running in Germany.

The newcomer does look a bit like a Ford from a distance, but has quite a few Volkswagen traits in the exterior. In particular, the front end looks like a typical VW van front and there is no crease in the beltline that Ford is known for.

On the other hand, the interior looks much more similar. Like the Transit it’s based upon, the Transporter has two displays on the dash sized 12 and 13 inches.

The Caravelle shown here is a nine-seater, while the Panamericana is a commercial van clad in a rugged body kit and riding on 19-inch wheels. The company promises us a special interior trim for the latter. The media speculate that AWD may become standard for the new Panamericana so that it doesn’t struggle in challenging conditions under full load.
