Turning a vintage bus like the 1962 Volkswagen Type 2 into a camper is a bold undertaking that often requires expertise and great attention to detail to pull off. The builder behind this project took not one, but two Type 2s and molded them into a weirdly charming and unique camper powered by a modern engine.
As you can see, one of the buses was remodeled into a tow truck with a custom platform, while the other one became a trailer. The result looks as unusual as it is stylish. Both bodies were resprayed in beige and pale swamp green and look like they could have escaped from a retro-themed movie set.
Power comes from an Audi S3 engine. The generation and the power are not specified, but we know that it’s a 2.5-liter five-cylinder mill linked to an automatic transmission.
The interior looks a bit cramped with a king-size bed taking up nearly half of the space and wooden cabinets with a fridge occupying the other half. Still, the roof pops up to create some extra space, and what little there is inside feels cozy enough at a glance.
The camper is street-legal in UK and is on sale there via Car & Classic right now. The bidding has reached a low £23,500 so far, but there are still two days remaining.
