Volkswagen has pulled its performance-boosted up! GTI hatchback from sales in Europe. The marque confirmed the reports saying there would be no direct successor to this model, although a compact EV might arrive later on to fill in the gap.
If you wanted to buy a Volkswagen up! GTI in Europe, your best bet is on leftover dealership stock. The standard ICE-powered up! model and its all-electric sibling are still available, but just like the GTI, they could soon go out of stock.
For those who forgot, the GTI spec utilized a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine tuned to 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque. It could sprint to highway speed in 8.8 seconds and hit its acceleration ceiling at 196 km/h (122 mph).
