Volvo will release a crossover baby

Swedish automaker Volvo held in Milan a presentation of its most compact crossover XC40. According to company representatives, this model is designed to compete with BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

Volvo XC40 was the first development of the Swedes, which received at its disposal a modular platform CMA - a product of the joint work of the designers of Volvo and Geely. According to the automaker, the platform will be used on all subsequent models of the 40 series, and it will suit both machines with internal combustion engines, and for electric vehicles.

Volvo XC40 will be equipped with four-cylinder Motors Drive-E: diesel D4 and petrol T5. Moreover, the diesel will traditionally be less powerful than its gasoline brother - 190 "horses" against 254. Also in the company's plans is the release of the Volvo XC40 with a hybrid power unit and a fully electric model. Interesting is the fact that both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive XC40 will be on sale.

In terms of safety, the Volvo XC40 will be able to follow the road exit, acquire a 360-degree view, warn the driver about the presence of other cars when it will move in reverse, and also be able to stop immediately when a pedestrian or bicyclist is found ahead of him. Also, the Volvo XC40 will receive an active cruise control and infotainment system.

Production of the Volvo XC40 starts in Belgium in November, and you can order a car right now.
