Despite its huge popularity in the late 1970s and 80s, the Volvo 244 series has never been particularly praised for its looks or engine power. This particular example is a different story altogether, though.
The owner of the car ditched the maintenance-heavy six-cylinder diesel engine in favor of a more modern and technically sophisticated mill. And not just any mill, at that, but none other than the famous 2JZ-GTE! The iconic power core of the previous-gen Toyota Supra received enhanced turbochargers, an intercooler, new fuel injectors and a plethora of other mods, ending up with 600+ hp (450+ kilowatts).
The car left the factory fitted with tiny 15”x7” wheels. The tuner swapped those out for a gorgeous new set measuring 17 inches in diameter and 9 inches wide (front axle). The rear axle received an even more spectacular 12-inch wide wheel pair. Brembo Big Brake Kit can be seen behind the spokes, and the suspension is air-cushioned.
The body itself only received a few localized improvements, such as a new bumper, fenders, and brake lights. Things look much more interesting inside, where GA Racing Kevlar seats accompany the new dashboard, steering wheel and gear stick.
