The Swedish team of Cyan Racing turned a 1964 Volvo P1800 into a restomod two months ago and now lets us take a peek inside the cabin.
Watch the video for the context on the original P1800. Cyan claims that what they aimed for was a re-imagination of the original interior of the car. The tuner tried to keep the dash panel intact while encasing the instrument gauges in a chrome bezel and building speakers into OEM-like door panels. The leather-wrapped bucket seats feature enhanced lateral support.
For its part, the body of the car has been made completely from scratch. It weighs in at just 990 kilograms (2,182 lbs) and rests on a titanium demi-frame covered with leather. Further notable features include adjustable shock absorbers, a dual-wishbone design at the front end and per-wheel suspension in the back.
Volvo S60 TC1 supplies the racing-grade 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 420 PS (414 hp / 309 kW) and 455 Nm (336 lb-ft). A five-speed Holinger manual box sends the momentum to the rear axle.
The Volvo P1800 Cyan makes do without anti-skid and ABS features specifically so that the driver could enjoy the authentic experience of driving a vintage vehicle.
The car is a one-off right now, but a few more are in the plans. Prices hover in the U.S. $500,000 range.
