Volvo has taken the wraps off its second production EV, the C40 Recharge, which according to CTO Henrik Green represents the future of the car marque.
The coupe features a sloped roofline, a new rear end design, and a front bumper different from that of the XC40. The front fascia and the headlights with their pixelated look will become standard for all Volvo EVs.
The powertrain consists of dual electric motors jointly rated at 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW) and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque. Getting from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 4.9 seconds, and the top speed lies as high as 180 km/h (112 mph). A 78-kWh traction battery supplies the power for 420 kilometers (261 miles) of WLTP-rated range.
The production will start in the fall of 2021, and all sales will take place online.
