Polestar 2 to become a Tesla Model 3 rival

Polestar, one of the subsidiaries of Volvo, has recently announced a new all-electric car named Polestar 2 which it claims would compete with the Tesla Model 3 in its market segment. The company’s first vehicle, the Polestar 1, only debuted a little while ago.

According to Polestar Chief Designer Thomas Ingenlath, this new car will be based on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) automotive platform. Jointly developed by Volvo and Geely, this new platform will be utilized by such cars as the next Volvo XC40 and the Lynk & Co 01.

As we have mentioned above, Polestar 2 is said to be the main market competitor of the Tesla Model 3, so it’s pretty safe to assume that it’s going to be a sedan. It’s also going to be attractively priced at some 35,000 – 40,000 U.S. dollars.

The wide audience will be able to have a first look at the new battery-driven vehicle in mid-2019. Mass production will launch in 2020. As a full-electric car, Polestar 2 won’t be equipped with any kind of secondary engine.
