Volvo buys out Zenseact stock

Volvo now controls a one hundred percent share in Zenseact, a software company specializing in autonomous driving systems.

Zenseact had been a partially owned subsidiary of Volvo until December 31, when the Swedish automaker announced buying out the remaining 13.5% stock from ECARX.

As a fully owned subsidiary, Zenseact will continue to operate as an independent company and proceed with the development of its autopilot solutions for cars. The products will be available for purchase by third parties aside from Volvo, the company says.

Volvo hit the CES show last year with a semi-autonomous driving solution dubbed the Ride Pilot, calling it production-ready. The system was co-designed with Zenseact and car parts vendor Luminar.
