Polestar has invented a special upgrade for engine control units of certain Volvo cars with AWD. It improves rear-wheel torque, resulting in a driving experience closer to that usually associated with rear-drive cars.
The upgrade is only compatible with 2019 Volvo vehicles based on the SPA or CMA platform. It cannot be installed on the hybrid-powered T6 and T8 Twin Engine, since their engines are already configured in the same way.
More specifically, compatible vehicle list includes the XC40 SUV and the 60 / 90 series equipped with gasoline and diesel engines. Once complete, the modification readjusts torque distribution towards the rear axle.
Polestar has previously revealed a performance package for the Volvo S60 sedan. The atelier boosted its stock hybrid engine to 421 hp (314 kW), swapped the brakes for stronger ones, and installed new shock absorbers and front strut tower braces.
