An eBay sale ad posted a few days ago offered a unique Volvo 960, which its owner claimed received a boost to ludicrous 3,042 PS (3,000 hp, or 2,237 kW). The sale never happened, because the winning bid of U.S. $12,500 turned out lower than the fallback price.
The lot description stated that the car was engine-swapped to a Chevrolet V8 mill bored out to 10.3 liters of displacement and fitted with improved fuel injection, a TBS supercharger, and as many as four turbochargers on top of all that. The result amounted to the abovementioned 3,000 hp along with 4,263 Nm (3,144 pound-feet) of torque. A simple-yet-reliable four-speed automatic transmission is used to deliver that kind of power to the rear axle.
As a dedicated dragster vehicle, the car also sports a certified fuel tank and semi-slick tires. The above notwithstanding, the single most astonishing fact might be that it still somehow remains road-legal. That said, you cannot use anything but the rare and expensive ON 116 fuel (racing-grade gasoline) to fill it up, so everyday driving might get complicated.
