Volvo has posted more shots of its upcoming first minivan, the EM90, focusing on the cabin this time around. The premiere remains scheduled for Sunday, November 12.
According to the automaker, the production version of the van will have six seats arranged in three rows. The middle row will house particularly advanced and comfortable seats filled with a purpose-designed filler material consisting of seven layers varying in density.
The passengers will have heating, ventilation, massage, built-in tables and cup holders at their disposal. Individual touch panels built into the wooden trim will provide quick access to these functions. The perforation patterns on the leather are supposed to remind viewers about ‘mountain ridges in fog’. Wood inserts at the front end of the cabin will be backlit to evoke associations with sunlight filtering through a bamboo thicket, Volvo says. Despite all these Asian motifs, the general impression from the interior is supposed to be that of a ‘Scandinavian living room’.
The panoramic roof above the passengers will be equipped with a special sun curtain, the opacity of which will be adjusted by servomotors. Volvo does not clarify what it means, though. An extra sunroof will be located above the front row. Orrefors crystal accents will be put on the drive mode selector, reminding of a similar styling solution used in the Volvo EX90 four-seater.
