Volvo unveils its first BEV

Swedish carmaker Volvo has taken the wraps off its first all-electric model, the XC40 Recharge.

Little is being revealed about the SUV except for the appearance. The company says it comes powered by dual electric motors rated at 408 hp (304 kW) total. The driving range exceeds 400 kilometers (250 miles), and topping up the battery from empty to 80% takes 40 minutes.

For the first time for Volvo, the car comes with an Android-based multimedia system on board. The operating system is connected with the Volvo On Call, enabling the users to take advantage of all existing Volvo online services.

The Swedish marque plans to triple the production volume of battery EVs, however, neither the launch date, nor the pricing of the XC40 Recharge is available yet.
