Volvo XC90 PHEV gets a decent power boost from Heico Sportiv

Nearly all modern Volvo flagships are plug-in hybrid cars. Hybrid drivetrains normally present a challenge for tuners, but whenever did Heico Sportiv back away from a challenge?

The team has just launched an upgrade kit for the Volvo XC90. The SUV leaves the factory equipped with a tandem between a four-cylinder gasoline engine (303 hp / 226 kW) and a single electric motor (87 hp / 65 kW). The resulting output amounts to 390 hp / 291 kW and 640 Nm (472 lb-ft) of torque.

Once the e.motion® XC90 T8 eAWD Twin Engine kit is installed, these numbers go up to 427 hp (318 kW) and 710 Nm (524 lb-ft) of torque, enabling the SUV to complete the standard sprint in 5.4 seconds instead of the stock 5.8 s. Additionally, the time to go from 80 to 160 km/h (50 – 100 mph, respectively) gets reduced by a full second to just 9.8 s.

The top speed stays the same, which is thoroughly understandable, given the sheer weight of the Volvo XC90 PHEV.
