Volvo is working hard on its next flagship, an all-electric crossover SUV dubbed the EX90. It will premiere on November 9, but in the meantime, have a look at these teasers showing it from the inside.
The two photos and the video fail to give us a full overview of the cabin, preferring instead to focus on the details. Still, the nuances are what’s important for Volvo nowadays: the company says it tried to formulate what luxury meant in the most modern sense of the word and realized that older benchmarks, like power and acceleration, were swept away by such essential EV stats as driving range and charging time. For Volvo itself, however, luxury comes with being environmentally conscious – and the principle is clear when you look at the EX90.
For most of the interior trim, the automaker uses an innovative material called Nordico, which is obtained from recycled plastic bottles and pine tar. FSC-certified wood paneling and wool obtained in ways considered responsible and sustainable are also employed. The company says every crossover will give a second life to nearly 50 kilos (110 pounds) of plastic waste.
