Thatcham Research has conducted a study following which the Volvo XC90 was awarded the title of the safest public road vehicle in Great Britain. It turns out that no one has suffered a fatal road accident inside one of these cars in the 16 years since it went on sale in 2002.
The study has led many industry professionals to speculate that this result may be attributed to Volvo XC90’s pioneering emergency braking and frontal collision warning system on the market in 2002.
Volvo XC90 was also awarded the best possible Euro NCAP crash test score in 2015. A new high score was set by Volvo XC60 only two years later.
