Voyah Zhiyin gets patented in China

Voyah, a premium vehicle brand of Dongfeng Group, is getting ready to introduce a new crossover SUV called Zhiyin. The sales are scheduled to begin in the final quarter of the year.

The Zhiyin is the Chinese carmaker’s first truly international release. It runs on the ESSA platform by Dongfeng, which stands for “Electric Smart Secure Architecture”, and is sized 4,725 x 1,900 x 1,636 mm large with 2,900 mm between the axles. That’s 184.6 x 74.2 x 63.9 inches with 113.3 inches of wheelbase.

Unlike the Voyah Dream, Free and Passion models already on sale, the Zhiyin will not be available with a hybrid powertrain. It is a pure EV coming to the market with a variety of motors and batteries. The base spec gets 292 PS (288 hp / 215 kW) and up to 625 km (388 miles) of CLTC-rated range from its smaller 77-kWh battery pack. A higher spec will offer 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW) and up to 901 km (560 miles) of range from a 109-kWh battery pack.

Both variants mentioned above only have one motor at the rear axle. There will also be a dual-motor flagship spec packing 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW), but it will be bundled with the smaller battery or some reason. As a result, it won’t cover more than 570 km (354 miles) per charge. An 800-volt power system on board will let all cars get up to 450 km (280 miles) of range in 10 minutes of charging.
