2025 Voyah Free+ lands in China

Voyah has once again facelifted its flagship SUV Free after the original debut in 2021. It ended up with a Level 3 self-driving package, a revised exterior and 15 mm (0.6”) of added ground clearance, as well as a new name: Free+.

The Huawei ADS 4 autopilot uses a LiDAR to drive the SUV on highways, change lanes, and maintain a safe distance from the traffic ahead. It can also brake quickly in emergencies, but drivers are advised to keep their eyes on the road.

On the aesthetic side of things, the front end has changed the most with new headlights, radiator grille, bumper, hood and fenders. A glance at the side reveals vertical chrome trims near the doors and new 21-inch wheels. The rear bumper is new as well, while the chrome strip under the tailgate window is gone. Size-wise, the Free+ measures 4,915 x,1960 x 1,660 mm with 2,960 mm of wheelbase. It’s 10 mm (0.4”) longer and 15 mm (0.6”) taller than before the facelift, but otherwise unchanged.

Customers in China are restricted to the range-extender hybrid version of the SUV (other markets get a battery-electric alternative). The hybrid uses a 1.5-liter engine to produce power for two motors on board. With 483 PS (476 hp / 355 kW) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque heading to all four wheels, the SUV only needs 4.4 seconds to go from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph). It cannot exceed 210 km/h (130 mph), though.
