The full-size crossover SUV known domestically as the Chasing Light S and outside of the country as the Passion S is already available in China in its flagship spec, Ultra+. Read on for an overview of the main technical specifications revealed so far.
Just to be clear, the new SUV apparently has very little to do with the Voyah Passion sedan, despite having an almost identical name. It is its own vehicle with a sporty profile, sculpted sides, frameless doors, active louvers in the lower front bumper and an option for a carbon-fiber body kit. The default wheel size is 21 inches.
On the outside, the Passion S measures 5,050 x 1,998 x 1,636 millimeters with a wheelbase of 3,000 millimeters. Its trunk area is good for 584 liters of luggage, but can be expanded to 1,744 liters if you fold down the rear bench seat. An 80-liter frunk is also provided.
In its priciest form, the five-seater comes with a fridge/heater hidden in the front row armrest, a 27-speaker audio system, and extra-comfortable seats with all the features you’d normally expect in a luxury vehicle. The driver gains access to Huawei’s ADS 5 assist package comprising not one, not two, but four LiDARs.
A pair of electric motors drive the four wheels with 646 PS (637 hp / 475 kW). Once fully charged, the Passion S goes from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds and can cover 740 kilometers (460 miles).
Prices in China start from 309,900 CNY, which corresponds to 45,775 USD at the current rate. Note that the pricing hasn’t been finalized yet. On the other hand, cars in China tend to become cheaper at launch more often than they end up more expensive.
