Michigan-based company RoboTire has posted a video showing an automated tire changer at work. The bot can not only replace the entire tire set on a car without any external help, but also analyze the condition of the tires and predict possible suspension issues.
A six-axis manipulator by design, RoboTire has what its developer claims to be AI-powered control and environment orientation systems. In other words, the robot automatically determines where the wheels are and how they are mounted.
Aside from that, RoboTire can detect incorrect camber angles and even locate minor tread defects. Thanks to being fully automated, the whole process takes half as much time as usual and only requires one human attendant.
