The latest bunch of patent pics reveals that Wey, a sub-brand of Great Wall, has been designing a four-door car with old-timer looks and no official name as of yet.
The model will become one of the 15 new cars Wey planned to design and produce until the end of 2023. Some of its exterior traits, such as round headlights, make it look not unlike the Nissan Skyline from the late 1960s. Then there is an aerodynamic kit and recessed door handles. The doors themselves could be bezel-free, and the rear ones may swing open against the traffic.
Rumor has it that the new Wey sedan will ship with a petrol and a part-electric powertrain to choose between. We will likely learn more in 2022, when the car debuts.
This is not the first time Great Wall experiments with retro styling. In 2020, the company unveiled the Futurist Concept, which also had suicide doors. In summer this year, it revealed a Wey-badged crossover SUV that will soon hit production with only minimal changes from the prototype version.
