Chinese automaker Tank has published the patent images of its upcoming model named the 400. Like all other off-roaders made by the Great Wall-owned marque, it features a body-on-frame construction. The premiere is set for later this year.
The Tank 400 Concept debuted last year (see video). Media supposed that it was built on the same platform as the Haval H9 (also owned by Great Wall) due to the comparable dimensions. It seems that the rugged looks will also make it into production.
The interior remains to be shown. The concept car had an unusual dash panel with gauges inside large, deep niches, a giant touchscreen display for the infotainment system and an original gear selector. Having said all that, we expect the production car to cheap out on most of those luxury features.
Technical details are also something we have yet to hear. In all likelihood, the car will come powered by electrified four- and six-cylinder engines, slotting in between the rather compact and affordable Tank 300 and the opulent Tank 500, which is 4.9 meters (16.1 feet) long. Tank 700 and 800 are also mentioned in the company’s plans.
