Wey 80 photos and specs leak ahead of premiere

Wey, a premium car marque controlled by Great Wall Group, is getting ready to introduce a 5.1-meter-long crossover SUV called the 80. According to AutoHome quoting the country’s Ministry of Industry, the large car will ship with a 1.5-liter hybrid system consuming no more than a single liter of fuel per 100 kilometers.

It is unknown when the car might celebrate its official debut. Judging by the patent images revealed so far, it will get a bezel-free radiator grille with a waterfall-like pattern and boomerang-shaped DRLs. Other notable features include sculpted sides, concealed door handles and an LED bar at the rear end.

The SUV is sized 5,105 x 1,985 x 1,800 mm with 3,050 mm between the axles. It could technically be released as a seven-seater, but the only spec patented so far has two separate seats in the second row. Based on the spy shots made earlier, a giant infotainment display will span the entire width of the front panel inside.

Working in tandem, a 1.5-liter petrol engine and an electric motor power the Wey 80 with a combined 410 PS (404 hp / 302 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). A 44.5-kWh battery on board yields 175 km (108 miles) of all electric range. More importantly, the company claims that going hybrid will keep the fuel consumption as low as 0.75 liters per 100 kilometers (313 MPG!) while ensuring over 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) of driving before a refill becomes necessary.

The rest of the parameters remain to be revealed. The media in China assume the domestic prices will lie in the range of 350,000–400,000 Yuan.
