Great Wall to launch Wey Alpine MPV sales in September

Great Wall Motor Company is getting ready to introduce customers in China to a pricy premium minivan called Wey Alpine. Live sales will begin as soon as the next month starting from U.S. $40,000 or so.

The Wey Alpine has a distinct exterior design and is 5,045 mm long with 3,085 mm of wheelbase. It is 1,900 mm tall and 1,960 mm wide, and rides on 18-inch wheels.

The powertrain combines a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) with an electric motor supplying another 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW). It can be charged from a wall socket and supports two main drive modes: with the engine connected to the wheels and the engine acting as a power generator for the e-motor.

Inside, the second row houses two separate seats equipped with all imaginable comfort features. There is a separate sunroof section at the top, a Harman/Kardon audio system and even a fridge on board. The front panel has a bare minimum of hardware buttons, relegating most functions to a couple of touchscreens.
