Wey introduces the Coffee 01, its first hybrid CUV for Europe

Great Wall-owned car brand Wey has joined the Munich Motor Show with a part-electric crossover SUV temporarily named the Wey Coffee 01. You might already know its Chinese counterpart, the Wey Mocha, which debuted in January and is currently on sale.

The pre-production car is 4,875 millimeters (190.5 inches) long and runs on a proprietary L.E.M.O.N. DHT powertrain designed by Great Wall. It comprises a 2.0-liter petrol turbo engine and two electric motors installed one per axle.

Interestingly enough, the hybrid system can function in both parallel and serial modes. In the parallel mode, the internal combustion engine drives the front wheels through a two-speed transmission. In serial mode, it only provides power for the electric system. Output maxes out at 476 PS (469 hp / 350 kW), enabling a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under five seconds. A 41.8-kWh traction battery is provided for up to 150 km (93 miles) of all-electric range.

Pre-ordering will become available later this year. As a side note, this is Great Wall’s third attempt to conquer the European markets after 2007 and 2019.
