Just as Great Wall is preparing to unveil the petrol-electric version of the Tank 300, someone with a camera snapped a photo of the SUV parked somewhere in China with no disguise on its body.
The general expectation is that the Tank 300 Hybrid will utilize the same drivetrain components as the already-available Tank 500 Hi4-T, just tuned down a bit. This means the base engine will likely be a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder rated at 252 PS (249 hp / 185 kW). It remains to be seen how much will be added by the electric motor. The model number 500 gets 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque from its drivetrain.
Other than that, the part-electric Tank 300 spotted in China this week seems identical to its gas-powered counterpart. There is a badge saying ‘PHEV’, but nothing else different. Then again, the certification papers submitted into the patent database by Great Wall did mention a special trim version with blacked-out accents.
