The large and feature-laden Wey V9X crossover is already obtainable on its domestic market of China with two wheelbases and three hybrid powertrains to choose from. Prices start from 349,800 Yuan ($51,440) and max out at $389,800 Yuan ($57,320).
The standard SUV is 5,205 mm (204.9 inches) long with a wheelbase spanning 3,050 mm (120.1 inches). A premium version is available that’s roughly 100 mm (4 inches) longer with the same addition to the wheelbase length. Wey promises utmost comfort for the passengers of the latter version, but 5.2 meters sounds quite enough for most of us, to be frank. The wheels are 21 inches large.
Depending on the trim, there can be up to five displays inside: a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, a 17.3-inch multimedia touchscreen, a same-sized passenger-side display, a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted TV for the two rows in the back, and a 29-inch HUD.
The middle row looks especially comfortable with advanced massage seats, a 7-liter thermal box, adjustable footrests and wireless phone charging pads. The driver enjoys access to a wide selection of driving assists powered by a Thor-U computational architecture.
Mild-hybrid and all-electric V9X variants will go on sale later, Wey says. Meanwhile, your choices boil down to three plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) based on the same 2.0T engine making 238 PS (235 hp / 175 kW). It always works in tandem with two electric motors, the one at the front making 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and the one at the rear changing depending on your chosen spec.
All in all, the three variants available right now send 680, 693 or 748 metric horsepower to the four wheels. This corresponds to 671, 684 and 738 U.S. horsepower, or 500, 510 and 550 kilowatts, respectively.
There are also a few different battery sizes on offer, with the biggest one rated at 470 kilometers (292 miles) in all-electric mode. Add a full tank of gas, and you’ll be looking at 1,700+ km (1,056+ miles) of range. Do note that all ranges are quoted per the (rather optimistic) CLTC cycle.
Performance-wise, the most powerful Wey V9X can sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.65 seconds, provided that its battery is 100% charged.
