Let’s face it, not everyone needs a full-blown house on wheels to enjoy an occasional weekend out in the wild, but some basic amenities are always better than none. A new project by Camportable proposes a rear-mounted field kitchenette packed with everything needed for a big family picnic.
The entire thing comes packed into an aluminum box weighing in at just 38 kilos (84 lbs). It includes a kitchen sink with a faucet, a stovetop with two gas burners, a fridge and four drawers. Curiously enough, the 14l Dometic fridge can revert its function to heat the air inside the car if you don’t need its cooling functions and the outside temperature drops below the freezing point.
The sink operates on two 10l water tanks – one for fresh and the other one for used water. There is also a natural gas tank for the stove. The assorted drawers are used for cutlery and assorted picnic-friendly accessories.
Camportable says the kitchen will be sold with an installation kit for various cars. Pricing and availability dates remain to be announced, however.
