GM Wuling’s latest concept car, the Mini EV Cabrio, has already attracted a truckload of love and hate reactions from car aficionados and Shanghai show guests. But the most important thing is, it looks like the miniature soft top will soon go on sale.
You will be justified to mistake the newcomer for the Dartz FreZe, Europe’s most affordable electric car on offer right now. The two have much in common, because both are based on the MINI EV model that starts at the equivalent of U.S. $4,300 in China. This actually makes it even cheaper than the FreZe.
Going back to the Cabrio revealed yesterday, the car boasts colorful steering wheel inlets, blacked-out LED headlights, and aerodynamically shaped wheels wrapped in low-profile rubber. The top itself is made of cloth and resides behind the seats when not needed.
Chinese media insist that the model will go into production sooner or later.
