Wuling has shared the first photos of an upcoming MPV named the Jiachen. No mention of pricing was made, but AutoHome believes the fairly simple chassis design along with modest trim options and a compact engine imply wallet friendliness.
Sales in China are set to begin in the next quarter. Depicted here is one of the top trim versions with two-tone interior leather and a 10.2-inch multimedia display. Lower trims are likely to get cheaper materials and infotainment features. Multi-zone HVAC and power-assisted seats are not available at all.
The automaker claims the seats benefit from additional padding, which is especially thick and raises the seat base height by around 10 mm (0.4”) for extra comfort. The two individual second row seats can be moved forward or backward by up to 120 mm (4.7 inches), and their backs can be reclined up to 150 degrees. The rear sofa supports some adjustment as well, and you can fold it down completely to get 1,177 liters (41.5 cubic feet) of trunk space.
The car comes sized 4,785 x 1,820 x 1,760 mm (L/W/H) with 2,760 mm between the axles (187 x 71 x 68.7 inches with a 107.8-inch wheelbase). The drive stays on the front axle, the rear suspension is semi-dependent, and the only engine available is a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder. You can obtain it with a manual transmission or CVT, both rated at 147 PS (145 hp / 108 kW).
