Having introduced the Wuling Air EV in Indonesia, the joint enterprise between SAIC, GM and Wuling has now launched it on its domestic market as well. According to Carnewschina, the Air is the marque’s first truly international production car, set to go on sale in Egypt and India before the end of the year and other countries later on.
Buyers can choose between two and four seats. The two-seater is 2,599 mm long, 1,505 mm wide and 1,631 mm tall with 1,635 mm between the axles. The four-seater is longer at 2,974 mm with 2,010 mm of wheelbase, but stays the same in terms of width and height.
On the outside, the new electric supermini sports a front grille stub with a big Wuling logo on it, black a- and b-pillars for a ‘floating roof’ look, and lights spanning its entire width. Four body colors are available including white, blue, grey and coffee.
Inside, the most dominant feature is a dual touchscreen display composed of a digital gauge cluster and a multimedia interface.
According to the Ministry of Industry of China, the car ships with only one electric motor rated at 53 PS (52 hp / 39 kW), which draws its power from a LiFePo4 battery pack. It cannot go any faster than 100 km/h (62 mph).
