Wuling invades the D-class with its Xingguang saloon

Chinese automaker Wuling has released some images of its new full-size sedan, the Xingguang, set to debut before the end of the year.

As you may have noticed, Wuling had only produced compact cars up until recently (watch the video for an example). The Xingguang breaks the mold with its impressive 4,835 mm (188.9 in) of length, 1,860 mm (72.7 in) of width, 1,515 mm (59.2 in) of height and 2,800 mm (109.4 in) of wheelbase. It is thus the manufacturer’s first foray into the D-class.

Based on the images revealed thus far, the Xingguang (or ‘Starlight’) is styled in line with the automaker’s latest design trends with a sloped roof and two different front fasciae (which one you get is determined by the powertrain type).

Speaking of the powertrains, there will be an all-electric one and a hybrid one to decide between. The former consists of a single electric motor rated at 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) and a traction battery. It also comes with two-tier headlights and a faux grille.

The hybrid saloon gets a fine mesh for the grille and sporty-looking slim headlights. It relies on a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated, 106-PS (105-hp / 78-kW) engine assisted by an electric motor. How powerful the motor is remains unannounced.
