Wuling, a car marque owned by SAIC Group, has released the pricing details for the Mini EV Cabrio, a topless version of one of China’s most popular electric cars. The vehicle is 3 meters (9.84 feet) long, has only two seats inside, and starts from 87,800 Yuan.
The original announcement was on September 1, 2022. Compared to its fixed-top counterpart, the Cabrio features a soft top you can fold back into a recess behind the seats. It also makes use of robust-looking roll bars for safety.
The only electric motor the car has resides on the rear axle and makes 41 PS (40 hp / 30 kW) along with 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) of torque. Its traction battery keeps 26.5 kilowatt-hours of juice and is rated for 280 km (174 miles) of range – minus 20 km (12 miles) compared to the hatchback version.
Prices start at the abovementioned 87,800 Yuan and rise to 102,000 Yuan with all boxes ticked. Even buying a maxed-out Wuling Mini EV hatchback will cost you around 30,000 Yuan less than buying the cabriolet. Despite this, the company has just reported receiving over 150,000 pre-orders. Due to this overwhelming demand, a draw will be organized to decide who gets to buy the cars from the next batch.
