SAIC-GM-Wuling has officially introduced a new crossover SUV called Nebula, which will go on sale in China in September. The company promises ‘attractive pricing’, but has not revealed any details yet.
In terms of size, the car is comparable with the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. Its biggest distinguishing feature comes in the form of a radiator grille encrusted with 171 LEDs, allowing drivers to display various animations on it.
The interior has its share of quirks, too. For one, you are supposed to tug the door handle upwards to get out of the car. The door panels are trimmed with an unusual scale-like ornament. The driver gets to look at a 7-inch color display, while the multimedia system has a 10.25-inch touchscreen.
Powering the Wuling Nebula is a mild-hybrid drivetrain rated at just 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW). The automaker praises its fuel efficiency, saying it doesn’t consume more than 5.5 liters of gas per 100 kilometers (that’s nearly 43 MPG in U.S. terms). The top speed doesn’t exceed 135 km/h (84 mph).
