Many owners of Xiaomi’s first car, the all-electric SU7 sedan, are apparently confused about its frunk and worried that it can accumulate rainwater. The company even had to release a tutorial video explaining how it should be used.
Frunks, or front trunks, are a common sight in electric vehicles these days, but the one implemented in the Xiaomi SU7 looks like it is not watertight. The IT giant has now released a statement, claiming that the compartment is securely insulated all around the top lid from the ingress of water. If any liquid does spill there, owners simply need to remove the drainage plugs at the bottom to let it drain.
Xiaomi also reminded that the front luggage compartment of its EV is larger than those of the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan at 105 liters (3.7 cubic feet).
