These images of Xiaomi’s upcoming electric saloon, the SU7, were apparently made by one of its employees during a commercial photo shoot. CarNewsChina believes they may end up having to pay up to 3,000,000 CNY (over 420,000 USD) in fines, but the upside is that we can have a good look at the car before its premiere in several days.
The images depict different SU7 vehicles each sporting its own finish and unusual-looking wheels. Some also have a pop-up spoiler at the back.
As for the technical specifications, recent patent applications have leaked them already. The Xiaomi SU7 is coming to us with two main powertrain options to choose from: single-motor RWD with 299 PS (295 hp / 220 kW) and dual-motor AWD with 673 PS (664 hp / 495 kW).
There are two battery sizes as well – 73.6 and 101 kilowatt-hours. The former yields either 628 or 688 km (390 or 427 miles) of range depending on the motor count, while the latter lets you drive either 750 or 800 km (466 or 497 miles). As you can guess, having just one motor gives you more driving range per charge.
Size-wise, the EV is 4,997 mm long, 1,963 mm wide and 1,455 mm tall (inches: 195.2 x 76.7 x 56.9). The wheelbase is 3 meters (117.2 inches) long. As such, it is slightly larger than the Porsche Taycan considered to be one of its main rivals in China. The expected starting price of just 190,000 CNY ($26,700) also undercuts the Taycan by a wide margin.
Xiaomi is already busy producing test batches of the SU7, with the mass production scheduled to start at the beginning of the next year.
