The Xpeng Motors P7, which is featured in our gallery and the video here, is the first production vehicle to take advantage of NVidia’s self-driving AI tech.
The company calls using NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier chips in light passenger vehicles a huge technological breakthrough for the global automotive industry. Interestingly enough, the Chief Engineer of Xpeng Motors had previously been employed at Tesla. Elon Musk’s company considered adopting the NVidia tech and ultimately decided against it.
In 2022, NVidia hopes to be able to supply Xpeng Motors with a next-gen version of the same tech platform, one that would be able to process data and make decisions way faster that the current one can.
