Xpeng X9 appears in new images

Chinese automaker Xpeng will be holding an annual Xpeng Tech Day tomorrow, October 24, where it will present the evolution roadmap for its existing cars. This year’s announcement is accompanied with two X9 minivan renderings, hinting that it may debut on the same day.

The Xpeng product lineup already includes five EVs, but no minivans among them. The X9 was first announced in May, with some patent images that followed in September. The manufacturer itself has never revealed the vehicle other than via camo-wrapped prototypes.

According to the patent application submitted in China, the X9 is 5,293 mm (206.8 inches) long, 1,988 mm (77.7 in) wide and 1,785 mm (69.7 in) tall with 3,160 mm (123.4 in) of wheelbase. Its interior has three rows and either six or seven seats. The local media believe it could be a future competitor of the Denza D9, Li Mega, and Zeekr 09, among others.

In its simplest form, the X9 will pack a single electric motor rated at 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW), linked to a LiFePo4 battery pack manufactured by Eve Energy. The top spec will get a second 184-PS (181-hp / 135-kW) motor on the rear axle for a combined output of 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW). This version will also use a different battery pack produced by CALB from NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) power cells.

According to the patent, one of the versions of the van is expected to cover up to 800 km (497 miles) on a single charge.
