The Japanese vehicle manufacturer will attend the Japan Mobility Show with a tricycle concept named Tricera, which sport a layout similar to that of the Polaris Slingshot. It will also be bringing multiple bikes to the show and an ICE buggy burning hydrogen gas for fuel.
Starting with the biggest highlight, the Yamaha Tricera has two wheels at the front and one (possibly the driven one) at the back. The company says all three wheels can be steered, with the option to set up the rear wheel to turn the same way as the front ones or the opposite way.
There is no roof or windshield, but Yamaha claims that the structure is rigid enough and that the pylons doubling as the seat backs will protect the passengers from injury if the trike flips over. Small see-through visors and hood deflectors minimize the airflow through the cabin.
Other than that, the company plans to unveil another trike at the expo called TMW – a utility-focused model looking like an off-road bike with an engine driving the rear wheel and electric motors in the hubs driving the front ones.
The lineup also includes a futuristic battery sports bike called Motoroid 2.0 and a buggy named YXZ 1000R running a one-liter hydrogen combustion engine. Yamaha argues that the unit retains the principal advantages of traditional engines while producing zero harmful emissions.
