China’s first F1 driver advertises Zeekr 001 facelift

Chinese car brand Zeekr has begun unveiling its refreshed “001” liftback ahead of February 27 premiere. The promo campaign is headed by none other than Zhou Guanyu, the country’s first Formula One racing driver and the second drive on the Zeekr team.

According to AutoHome, the updated car is sized 4,977 x 1,999 x 1,545 millimeters large with 3,005 millimeters between the axles. Its aerodynamic shape has been slightly modified to resemble that of the hardcore 001 FR model. Inside, Zeekr implemented a large 35.5-inch HUD and a new infotainment system running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset. The trim scheme has also been revised throughout.

Thanks to a switch to the modern 800-volt power architecture, the electric liftback now charger way faster than before the facelift. Zeekr claims that 11 minutes and 30 seconds will be enough to top up the battery from 10 to 80 percent.

As usual, customers will be choosing between single- and dual-motor variants, but both have been massively boosted in the update. The single-motor spec now outputs 421 PS (415 hp / 310 kW) to the wheels and the dual-motor one outputs 788 PS (777 hp / 580 kW). The respective pre-facelift numbers were 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW).

The range-topping Zeekr 001 sprints from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds – 0.6 seconds faster than before. Driving range varies from 626 to 750 km (389–466 miles) according to China’s measurement standards.

Pre-orders will likely open on Tuesday, February 27.
