China-based automaker Zotye Auto has announced a return to car production after a year-long hiatus. For the time being, the 2016 Zotye T300 will be the only model produced and sold exclusively abroad.
The company – which has been previously criticized for copying other manufacturers’ designs – says it will ship the cars to the markets of Western and Southern Asia, as well as Middle East and South America.
The T300 comes powered by a 1.5-liter Mitsubishi engine rated at 112 PS (110 hp / 82 kW). It is 4.405 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and 1,640 mm tall with 2,610 mm between the axles.
The company says it is actively researching new car architectures promising high reliability and efficiency. Future production will be based on the platforms known as i-AFA, i-BFA and i-LFA. Electric cars are also on the planned products list, as well as compact and subcompact cars, but the availability dates and other details remain to be announced.
