Novelties
Audi has revealed the facelifted S3 sedan and hatchback. Sales in Europe should begin in the second quarter of the year, and the starting price is €55,600.
The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has received a tune-up for an extra 23 horsepower and 20 Newton-meters of torque, for a total of 333 PS (328 hp / 245 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft). The new S3 sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.7 seconds and hits its electronic speed limiter at 250 km/h (155 mph).
The transmission now uses a technology called Torque Splitter. It comes from the range-topping RS 3 and uses multi-plate clutches at the rear wheels for more precise torque control and better handling. The electronics on board supports six drive modes including a new one named Dynamic Plus.
Stiffer arms and beefier brakes with different calipers and larger discs are the biggest improvements in the chassis department. The sports suspension that drops the ride height by 15 mm (0.6”) is now included in the standard spec, and you can pay extra for adaptive shocks if you want.
On the outside, you will recognize the new S3 by its new bumpers, radiator grille and headlights with customizable DRLs. The interior houses a revised transmission tunnel with a different transmission selector on it, reshaped air vents and more trim options. The atmospheric ambient lighting is likewise new. A squared-off steering wheel and premium seats with integrated headrests and enhanced lumbar support are now included as standard in all trims.
