U.S.-based aftermarket company Goat Special has unveiled its next project, an army-themed conversion of a Ford Super Duty pickup. Called the Atlas, it sports a distinct military design and can even be optioned with a fake gun turret on the roof. It’s also street-legal and available to everyone with at least $395,000 to spare.
A custom body design grants the truck B6-grade protection against gunfire (that’s mostly pistol fire, though). You can pay extra to raise the grade to B7 and get .50-caliber proofing as well. 75mm (3-inch) thick glass all around is included by default alongside a rugged body kit and gun ports for returning fire.
From the technical point of view, it’s a normal Ford Super Duty with a 6.7-liter diesel engine churning out 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW) to all four wheels through a ten-speed AT. A full tank will take you as far as 650 km (400 miles), the company says, but the top speed will not exceed 145 km/h (90 mph).
Thanks to a revised suspension design, the Atlas has 340 mm (13.3 inches) of ground clearance. It can wade water up to 800 mm (31 inches) deep, remain stable while swaying up to 16.7 degrees to one side, and climb 31-degree slopes.
Also on the options list are full undercarriage plating, 360-degree lighting, a megaphone, EMP shielding, and all kinds of custom interior solutions for affluent clients.
