Ford Flex says goodbye in the USA

Ford has discontinued the Flex, another car that has been in production in the United States since 2008, but fallen out of popularity lately.

As you may see for yourself, the model represents a mixture of MPV, SUV and estate/wagon design elements. It comes based on the Ford Fairlane Concept that debuted back in 2005. Three years later, the prototype gave birth to the production car, with the assembly facilities located in Canada.

Ford has sold around 300,000 Flexes during the entire 11 years on the market. Positioned as a seven-seat SUV first and foremost, the car shipped with V6 engines and a choice between FWD and AWD.

Dealerships in North America stopped offering the Ford C-Max, Taurus and Focus a while ago, and this tendency will likely continue, as the car manufacturer now prioritizes pickup trucks and popular crossover SUVs over all else.
