Ford Ranger May Get New Engine in 2027

A reportedly leaked 2027 Ford Ranger order guide suggests that the 2.7-liter V-6 engine could be replaced by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. This new engine may be available in 2027 XLT and Lariat 4x4 models, while the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is expected to remain the standard engine in non-Raptor Ranger models.

Ford has not announced output figures for the rumored 3.0-liter engine. However, if it receives the same tune as the 2027 Bronco, which is also reportedly switching to the 3.0-liter version, it could produce 380 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. This would mean the 2027 Ranger XLT and Lariat models could have 25 fewer horsepower but 10 additional pound-feet of torque compared to the Ranger Raptor, which features a 3.0-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V-6 with 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.

Beyond the engine change, the 2027 Ford Ranger is expected to receive other updates. These include new wheel designs and revised grille finishes for the XLT and Lariat trims. The color palette may also change, with Neptune Blue possibly replacing Velocity Blue and Carbonized Gray reportedly being removed. Inside, the Sandstone interior color is expected to be replaced by Space Gray. The entry-level XL trim is reportedly set to gain a larger 12.0-inch touchscreen, replacing the current 10.1-inch display, and dual-zone automatic climate control may become standard.
