Stellantis ponders killing off some of its brands

After a downright disastrous 2024, Stellantis Group is now looking into ways to stay afloat. Getting rid of a brand or several is one of the distinct possibilities.

Right now, the North American automotive giant controls as many as 14 car brands. The media in Europe speculate that Alfa Romeo, Lancia and DS may be the first to go. Maserati is also floundering right now, but it might make sense to keep it around for image purposes. The company hasn’t announced anything definitive yet.

Carlos Tavares, the former Stellantis CEO, insisted that all brands must be preserved no matter the circumstances. With him gone and openly blamed for many of the company’s current troubles, things aren’t looking good for the underperforming divisions.
